Food Forest

The Cameron House Food Forest Project is part of the Real Power program, which was established to educate the community about how to better take care of their bodies through proper nutrition, exercise, and knowledge.  The Food Forest will be Cameron House's very own garden, designed using the theory of Permaculture.  Permaculture designs are based on naturally occurring living systems that do not waste energy or materials.

The fruits and vegetables that are organically grown will be used in classes that teach people how to cook in more healthy ways.  The Food Forest will eventually become a fertile plot of land in a neighborhood that is overcrowded and lacking in natural beauty.  Our hope is that this little project will inspire other people and organizations to think outside the box and use what they have to make beautiful gardens.  And over time, gardens will add to the beauty of Chinatown while helping to reduce some of the harmful effects of pollution.
