Habitat for Humanity Work Project Photos
Volunteers from Cameron House and the Presbyterian Church in Chinatown participated in a work day with Habitat for Humanity San Francisco to build new housing. Some of the volunteers will also be going to New Orleans this summer to help build housing there. To see photos of the work day, click here.

2007 Scholarship Awards
On August 2, five scholarships were awarded to youth in the Cameron House Program. The Harry & Mary Tong Scholarship was awarded to Kenny Lin (Yu Liang Lin). Kenny was BYP coordinator this past summer. The four recipients of the Ken & Josie Kwong Scholarship are Jennifer Hom, Kenny Lin, Bryan Tom and Christopher Young. Jennifer and Bryan were on the Westminster Woods leadership support team this summer and Christopher was a Ventures leader. Congratulations! To see photos of the award ceremony, click here.

New Photos of Scout Work Project
On June 2, 2007 members of Troup 79 from South San Francisco came to Cameron House to repair broken benches, pews, etc. Bryan Tom, a member of the Scout Troup, is also a member of PURE, a Friday Night club at Cameron House. Click here to see photos.

Basketball Clinic at CH
Cameron House and the Chinatown YMCA sponsored a basketball clinic on April 14. Additional funding was provided by Nike. Cameron House's Darren Woo was one of the leaders. Click here to see photos.

UPS Helps Out at Cameron
House
On October 18, employees of UPS volunteered
to help out at Cameron House. They waxed floors, put together
new desks and cleaned up the outside yards. Thanks to all

from Bay Area Presbyterian Churches, held its annual Membership

Cable Car Bell Ringing
Contest
The 40th Annual Cable Car Bell Ringing Contest was held
on October 16, 2003. Justin Woodard represented Cameron
House in the non-profit organization division. Justin's
rhythmic bell work earned him a tie for first place. Justin
is coordinator for the new Saturday program for youth called
Best Day of the Week.(Pictures)

Cameron House Women’s
Guild
On Monday, October 27th, the Cameron House Women’s
Guild hosted its annual Yum Cha fund raising luncheon at
Cameron House (Pictures).
The Guild is comprised of women from Bay Area Presbyterian
Churches. The monies raised supports emergency and needed
items not included in the Cameron House budget. We thank
the Guild for its dedication and support.

Ventures 2003 - in August we completed another successful summer program
for youth. We served over 400 youth in our Ventures day
camp program and over 100 youth in our bi-lingual youth
program. After Ventures completed, many of the youth spent
a week at Westminster Woods Camp enjoying outdoor activities
and enhancing their faith. (Pictures)

Cameron Carnival
On May 3, 2003, we held our annual Carnival. With games, Dunko,
bake sale, Silent Auction and food, there was something for
everyone to enjoy. Doreen Der-McLeod writes: "Carnival
captures and embodies what we at Cameron House are trying
to teach our youth. It is a real life, worldly event that
encapsulates the spirit of the Christian faith. It is 'community'
which brings out the best in us." ( Pictures).

Soul and Elegance - A Festive Evening of Music and Recognition. On February
22, 2003 over 700 persons were at St. Mary's Cathedral to
enjoy an evening of dancing and to honor four persons with
the first Donaldina Cameron Award for Excellence in Service
and Leadership. Click

The Cameron House Women’s
Guild, comprised of women from Bay Area Presbyterian
Churches, held its annual Membership Tea on Monday, February
24, 2003. Approximately 22 Guild members attended the event
at Cameron House.
The day’s agenda included:

who stepped down as the Guild’s President after

Youth Ministries Christmas
Celebration – Friday, December 20, 2002
Middle and high school youth from Friday Club, BAP, and PCC
were invited to join the Youth Ministries Christmas Celebration
12/20/02. The turnout was good. Activities included a Santa’s
Workshop where groups made goodie bags for kid’s who
attend Sunday’s worship and made paper snowflakes to
decorate the foyer. There was a gingerbread house-making contest
where the kids got to display their creativity. Friday Club’s
11th-12th Grade Commission presented a skit based on the “T’was
the Night Before Christmas” story. We had an all out
Christmas sing-a-long led by the Praise Band, who were in
fine form and voice. [Pictures]
Thanks to all for making this a fun and successful event!

On October 1, 2002, Cameron House hosted their
annual Community Tea [Pictures]
for community and social service agencies. This event allowed
attending agencies to network and learn what other agencies
in the community were doing. |
