ESL Accelerate Program
Are you fluent in both English and Cantonese? Are you free on Wednesdays and Fridays mornings (10 am to noon) from April 11 through May 27? If yes, there is a great opportunity to volunteer at the Cameron House Conversational ESL Class. For more information, please contact Carol Mo, the Accelerate Program Coordinator at 415-781-0401 x 130.

The Bilingual Afterschool Program
We are looking for responsible, caring people who can consistently volunteer an hour or more tutoring math, English, etc. at least once a week or read stories to children Grades 1–5. Our BAP hours are 2:45–6:00 PM, Monday thru Friday. If interested, contact Sing Quan

Cooking For The Volunteer Youth Leaders
Feel like cooking, or just want to say “thanks” to our volunteer youth leaders? Help us cook 6:00 pm Friday dinners! There are usually 16–20 leaders who gather for dinner and seminar prior to Club. You are welcome to cook at Cameron House, or cook and drop off food earlier (we can also freeze meals). Please contact Norma Fong Chan if interested.

Driving Club Kids Home
Looking for a simple way to get involved at Cameron House?
Do you have a valid driver’s license, good driving record and proper insurance and are available from 10–11pm Fridays?
The Friday Night Club Program is looking for a team of adult volunteers to help drive youth home around 10pm afterwards. Friday Night Club participants live throughout San Francisco (some even from North and East Bay!). Some youth can only attend programming if they have a ride home, as parents are concerned with late night transit safety and many do not own cars.
Our youth currently need rides to these neighborhoods:

  • Outer & Inner Richmond District (25th and Fulton area)
  • Inner Sunset (before 19th Ave)
  • Excelsior (just off of 280)
  • Bayview/Silver Terrace (near 101/280 junction)
  • Chinatown/North Beach area
  • If you can help drive youth home after they attend Club—even just once a month—please let us know! You can contact Chris Cheuk or Norma Fong Chan

    Helping with Our Food Program
Each week we get food from distribution centers like the San Francisco Food Bank. We package the food for needy Chinatown residents to pick up.

    Helping Plan an Event
Your help on event committees is invaluable. You can help with Cameron Carnival, with February events like Soul & Elegance and with alumni reunions.
