Get Involved

Each year, Cameron House assists low-income families to experience a more hearty Thanksgiving by providing them a bountiful bag of Asian food groceries, like dried mushrooms, pork sausages, white snow fungus, egg noodles, dried seaweeds, bean threads, and many more.

In partnership, the Youth Ministries and Social Services Ministry of Cameron House carry out this mission by involving different communities. This year the Friday Club youth flyered and collected monetary donations door-to-door in the Richmond District, raising $900. With an additional $2,500 from generous individual donors from Cameron House's alumni base and the Presbyterian Church in Chinatown, the Harvest Home project raised $3,400. With these funds, Social Services staffs were able to gather enough groceries to fill bags for 160 families (more than 350 people)! Moreover, since our long-time providers of the Adopt-A-Family Project from Danville Presbyterian Church will not be able to serve our families this Christmas, Cameron House will purchase Christmas gifts for individuals and families served by our Social Services Ministry with the remaining funds from Harvest Home collections.

Special thanks to the generous donors and the Friday Club youths & parents for making the Harvest Home 2011 a great success. Happy holidays.
